My Austin Go-To Spots: The Places I Always Return To
I come to Austin constantly. And every single time I’m here, I end up at the same five places.
Because I’ve found what actually works. These are the spots that deliver every single time. The ones where I know exactly what I’m getting, and I know it’s going to be worth it.
This is what Along Nado is all about. Whether it’s BBQ that never disappoints, a restaurant that feels like an experience, tacos that are always perfect, coffee that’s worth the drive, or a brewery with the exact vibe I’m looking for—these are my Austin anchors.
Here are the five spots I always return to.
Terry Black’s BBQ

A legendary BBQ joint in Austin serving smoked meats, sides, and everything you need for an authentic Texas BBQ experience.
There’s something about walking into Terry Black’s and knowing you’re about to have good BBQ. No questions asked.
What I love: The lines move fast, the seating is spacious, and they never, ever run out. But here’s what really keeps me coming back—the consistency. Every time I go, the food is exactly what I want it to be. The brisket is perfectly smoked, the sides are generous and delicious, and there’s something about a place that takes pride in doing one thing really, really well.
It’s not fancy. It’s not trendy. It’s just solid, reliable, beautiful BBQ. That’s the vibe.
Intero Restaurant

Intero is an upscale restaurant run by a chef couple. I genuinely don’t understand why it doesn’t have a Michelin star. Every single time I walk through that door, they remind me what it means to never disappoint. The food is impeccable. The desserts are impeccable. The service is on point. Everything. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why you care about eating well—intentional, thoughtful, and exactly what I’m always trying to create.
Little Fields Taco (Veracruz Truck)

Veracruz All Natural’s truck at Little Fields Taco is a casual spot specializing in tacos with organic ingredients. I never miss a chance to go here. The seating area is nice, the energy is relaxed, and the tacos are great. I always order the same thing—barbacoa taco, furioso taco, and the vegan queso with chips—because they’re exactly what I want. Plus, their agua frescas are amazing. It’s casual, it’s consistent, and it makes me happy every time.
Jo’s Coffee (South Congress)

Jo’s Coffee on South Congress is an Austin institution and local coffee shop. Sometimes the best part of a place isn’t just the coffee—it’s the whole experience. The location is perfect for sitting back and people-watching. You can feel the energy of the neighborhood just by being there. And on weekends? They bring in live bands. It’s my go-to spot when I want to slow down, observe, and just be present in Austin.
Zilker Brewing Company + Spicy Boys Food Truck

Zilker Brewing Company is a brewery and beer garden with a food truck inside called Spicy Boys Fried Chicken that serves incredible fried chicken sandwiches. The beer is fantastic and the atmosphere just feels right. You can order their Hot Gai sandwich or go classic with the OG. And sometimes there’s live music playing while you’re eating. It’s casual, it’s fun, it’s exactly what I want when I’m looking to enjoy Austin without overthinking it.
